Hello everbody! So, we finally have it. Deadpool is here. Does it live up to the hype?
DIRECTED BY: Tim Miller
STARRING: Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand
COUNTRY: United States
This is the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Alright Deadpool, show me exactly what an R-rated superhero film should be. Deadpool surprised me in many ways, and has perhaps made it into my top 5 of 2016 (so far). Ryan Reynolds was a perfect Deadpool, and I can’t picture anyone else that would fit the role. Ed Skrein also played a rather decent antagonist, providing plenty of opportunities for witty banter between the two. I almost lost it when Deadpool spells out Skrein’s name (Francis) with corpses.
The main problem with Deadpool is that after two viewings, the jokes get old pretty quickly. After watching Deadpool for the third time I was quickly bored watching it. Sure the film is awesome for many different reasons, but too much Deadpool is actually a thing. Sorry Ryan Reynolds, we need to break up for the time being. Don’t get me wrong, I will be back though!
- Main cast performance.
- Supporting cast performance.
- R-rated uber violence.
- Jokes get old quickly.
- Who is Francis?
SCORE: 9.0 / 10
