Screen-Shot-2015-04-13-at-9.13.08-AMArmed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but maintain his full sized strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

So how is Marvel’s latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Actually not half bad. I definitely was wary of Paul Rudd as a superhero, since I don’t particularly like him as an actor. To my surprise though his cocky/ definitely not heroic attitude and performance actually fit the character quite nicely. His comedic chops also add a nice layer of comedy that Ant Man desperately needed.Ant-Man-7

Alright, here comes my biggest pet peeve. As an amateur filmmaker, I understand that each and every filmmaker has his own individual style. Since the original main driving force behind Ant Man, Edgar Wright, jumped ship during production, much of his style is still there. The new and final director,Peyton Reed, did the best he could. Unfortunately, I don’t think there styles matched very well and would have liked to see Edgar Wright’s finished version of Ant Man. Otherwise, it was a rather decent film. I haven’t been proud to say that about a Marvel film in quite a while.

PROS:

  • Main cast performance.
  • Supporting cast performance.
  • Dark comedy aspect.
  • Hilarious characters.

CONS:

  • Differing directorial styles.
  • EDGAR WRIGHT WHY DID YOU JUMP SHIP?

SCORE: 7.5 / 10

Fury, one of the few films out this year that I actually stumbled into watching. The character development of the majority of the characters are spectacular, as it really convinced me that they were a band of brothers. The tank design was actually well done as well, which is not normal for a war film. Brad Pitt, Mark Ruffalo, and Logan Lerman all performed very well unlike their counterparts.

Fury was an enjoyable film, but I did have a few issues with it. The film was overly lengthy, as I could cut at least 45 minutes of footage and it still could be good. The majority of the supporting cast was quite disappointing, especially with the impressive cast list. What did y’all think of Fury? Let me know in the comments below.

PROS:

  •  Half main cast performance.
  • Setting.
  • Tank design.

CONS:

  •  Supporting cast performance.
  • Logic loop holes.
  • Some lack of character development.

SCORE: 6.5 / 10
