The Moment is Here. Neon Tiger’s Debut Album “Paperback Sunset”

Alright Neon Tiger, your moment is here. After his first two singles “Neon Rose” and “Summer“, Neon Tiger is back on MiR with the release of his first album Paperback Sunset. While you may not recognize the name just yet, the man behind the pseudonym is also known as Maarcos and was a member of Those Usual Suspects. Neon Tiger was created so that he could experiment a bit more with his style and songwriting. Not only is Neon Tiger a bit of new age, but even revives classic sounds with modern technology.

Now comes the important question…how is Paperback Sunset? Well friends, the album is a delicious fusion of vintage and modern sounds that only Neon Tiger could accomplish. While our personal favorites are still “Neon Rose” and “Summer”, they only top an album with other standout tracks. There is the chill and bass heavy track “Painting the Sidewalks” that was a result from Neon Tiger and Monstercat’s Colordrive collaborating. Don’t forget the ethereal and quite emotive “Departure”, which included additional elements from vocalist Sunsun and Grammy-winning writer Damon Sharpe. There are plenty of pluses hidden in this track, just be sure to listen to it for yourself to find them all.

Make sure you listen to Paperback Sunset below:

New from Monstercat: American Producer Notaker Releases New Single “Shimmer”

cover-7

Now we have yet another release from the Monstercat record label, what could it be? Getting back to work after a mini-break, young American producer Notaker brings us his third release from Monstercat, “Shimmer”. A rather new producer to be featured on MiR, Notaker has already grabbed our attention with his style, where he warps atmospheric sounds to generate a soothing and awesome ambient beat. We aren’t the only ones who have taken notice, as superstar producers Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz as well as film scoring legend Hans Zimmer has even given Notaker praise.

Alright Notaker, your “Shimmer” is absolutely fantastic. After one listen through it is definitely being added to our daily playlist in our office. Definitely one of the more ambient-inspired tracks that came across my desk, “Shimmer” starts off heavy with futuristic driven synths, and dives further into the futuristic unknown. “Shimmer” creates an experience that doesn’t just entraps you. It listens to you. It creates a wondrous layer of bliss and another layer of mystery right on top. I’m going to stream this tonight while we play No Man’s Sky, just to bring out the atmospheric theme.

Be sure to listen to Notaker’s “Shimmer” here:
